  • 2018: Rowdy Tellez (Toronto Blue Jays) delivers pinch-hit, RBI double in first MLB at-bat en route to 10-3 win over Tampa Bay Rays. He is replaced in lineup by CF Kevin Pillar, who goes 0-for-1
  • 2011: 3B Danny Valencia (Minnesota Twins) leads off 8th inning with double to spoil perfect-game bid by rookie P Zach Stewart (Chicago White Sox). Stewart goes on to earn complete-game, 4-0 win, with Valencia the only Twin to reach base
  • 1957: Construction executive Louis E. Wolfson bids $5 million to buy Brooklyn Dodgers and keep team from moving to Los Angeles. He also pledges to spend $2-million on new players and build new stadium, but effort fails, and team reemerges in 1958 as Los Angeles Dodgers
  • 1944: Soldiers from Fort Totten, NY, defeat Philadelphia Athletics in exhibition game. Cpl. Sam Nahem delivers both at plate and from mound, hitting 2 HRs with 7 RBIs while limiting Athletics to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings
  • 1934: CF Milt Galatzer (Cleveland Indians) goes 5-for-5 with double and 4 runs scored in win over Boston Red Sox
