Braun’s big night marks break-out month

By Scott Barancik, editor

Ryan Braun is on fire this month, and Friday’s game was one of the 31-year-old’s best. The 2011 N.L. MVP reached base all four times in Milwaukee’s 11-0 trouncing of Atlanta and drove in four runs with a 2-run HR, a 2-run double, another double, and a walk.

Here is a comparison of Braun’s May and March/April stats, through games played Saturday, 5/24/2015:

PA H 2B HR RBI SB BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS
Apr/Mar 75 18 0 4 10 1 3 16 .254 .293 .423 .716
May 93 22 5 7 24 3 14 17 .289 .391 .632 1.023

Braun’s surge this month has launched him onto the N.L. leaderboard in several categories:

  • 13.4 at-bats per HR (4th in N.L.)
  • 11 HRs (5th/tie)
  • 34 RBIs (4th)
  • .531 slugging percentage (10th)
  • 5.9 power-speed (8th)
