• Toronto’s Kevin Pillar went 2-for-4 with an RBI double Wednesday in a 12-6 win over the Rays, raising his average to .314. But what earned “human highlight reel” Pillar a standing ovation Wednesday was a catch over a 10-foot-high fence that robbed the Rays of a home run. Toronto P Mark Buehrle said of Pillar: “The way he’s played this first week and a half, two weeks, just give him the Gold Glove right now.” Pillar was asked about his jaw-dropping catch after the game ***
• Oakland’s Ike Davis went 2-for-4 with a double in Wednesday’s 6-1 loss to Houston ***
• Sam Fuld‘s triple Wednesday was his MLB-leading third, and it tied him for the A.L. lead with 7 extra-base hits ***
• Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun went 2-for-5 with an RBI single and made an incredible catch in a 4-2 loss Wednesday to St. Louis ***
• L.A.’s Joc Pederson went 1-for-1 with an RBI single, walked thrice and tossed out a runner at home in a 5-2 win Wednesday over Seattle ***
• Boston’s Craig Breslow pitched two scoreless innings in a 10-5 loss Wednesday to the Nats ***
• Cincinnati’s Jason Marquis was knocked around for 7 hits and 4 earned runs in a 4-inning performance Wednesday ***

• The Nats promoted Richard Bleier to Triple-A, just in time for him to pitch four innings of one-run ball Wednesday in his first start ***

• Ex-Dodgers prospect Tyger Pederson, older brother of Joc Pederson, has signed with the independent San Rafael Pacifics ***
