MLB
- Toronto’s Kevin Pillar did it again Friday, hitting a 2-run triple and robbing the Indians’ Jason Kipnis — who has a Jewish father but is a practicing Catholic — of extra bases with a leaping grab at the outfield wall. Cleveland won 9-4 ***
- Don Mattingly’s decision to move Joc Pederson from the back of the batting order to the leadoff spot is looking pretty smart. - Detroit’s Ian Kinsler went 0-for-2 with 2 walks Friday in a 4-1 loss to the Royals ***
- Oakland’s Ike Davis went 1-for-2 and teammate Sam Fuld went 0-for-5 in a 7-5 win Friday over Texas ***
- Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun went hitless in Friday’s 1-0 loss but tossed out a Cubs runner trying to advance from first base to third on a single ***

- Milwaukee prospect Ben Guez (AAA) offered a balanced attack Friday, going 2-for-5 with a 2-run HR, an RBI single, a walk and a stolen base. The 8th-year player, who has never gotten a call-up to the Bigs, ranks first in the Pacific Coast League with 16 walks ***
- Angels prospect Charlie Cutler (AA) went 3-for-4 Friday with a 2-run double and an RBI single, both of which came with two outs ***
