Mazel of the Day: Alex Bregman hit his third home run in three games and fifth in his last 10, one of six the Houston Astros (38-16) launched in their 17-6 pummeling of the host Minnesota Twins (26-23). He also singled and drove in a second run in six trips to the plate.
Craig Breslow pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the Twins, walking one and giving up one hit, although he allowed one of two inherited runners to score.
Danny Valencia was 2-for-4 with a double (#8), a run scored, and two RBIs as the Seattle Mariners shut out the Colorado Rockies, 5-0.
Kevin Pillar was given the game as the Toronto Blue Jays (26-27) beat the visiting Cincinnati Reds (24-28), 5-4. Scott Feldman did not appear for the Reds. The Jays are on a hot streak, winning eight of their last 10 to move to within a game of .500. But they’re still bringing up the rear in the AL East.
Richard Bleier did not appear for the Baltimore Orioles (27-24) in their 10-4 win over the host NY Yankees.
Ian Kinsler (Detroit Tigers), Ryan Braun (Milwaukee Brewers), and Joc Pederson (LA Dodgers) remain on the disabled list.
