Don’t know how I managed to miss posting this yesterday. Apologies. I know you’re all waiting with bated breath…
Kevin Pillar cracked his 10th home run of the year to help the Toronto Blue Jays (39-45) beat the host NY Yankees, 7-6. His shot came in the fourth to give the Jays a 4-2 lead. Pillar also singled and walked in four plate appearances and stole his 12th base. The probability is high that we could have all six position players hitting double-digit homers; all of them have at least eight at this point. Maybe the Jays are looking to deal him someplace?
Ian Kinsler was 2-for-5 and drove in a run, but the Detroit Tigers (37-46) lost to the visiting San Francisco Giants, 5-4. The Tigers scored all their runs in the seventh but couldn’t quite make it all the way.
Ryan Braun singled and scored a run in four at-bats as the Milwaukee Brewers (47-40) shut out the visiting Baltimore Orioles (40-44), 4-0. Richard Bleier did not appear for the O’s.
Alex Bregman was 1-for-4 and walked as the Houston Astros (58-27) beat the host Atlanta Braves, 10-4.
Joc Pederson was 0-for-2 in the LA Dodgers’ 1-0 win over the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. He came out for a pinch-hitter in the seventh. The Dodgers (57-29) could only muster four hits, so he was in good company.
Danny Valencia was 0-for-4 with a walk as the Seattle Mariners (41-45) lost in 10 innings to the visiting KC Royals, 9-6.
Ryan Lavarnway, recently called up by Oakland A’s (37-48), did not appear in their 7-4 win over the visiting Chicago White Sox.
Scott Feldman didn’t pitch horribly, but the Cincinnati Reds (36-48) still lost to the host Colorado Rockies, 5-3. Feldman (7-6) gave up four runs on five hits, two of which were home runs. He walked one and struck out six. Maybe the Reds are looking to deal him someplace?
Craig Breslow remains on the disabled list for the Minnesota Twins. He’s scheduled to do some bullpen work today and then appear in a rehab game on Sunday. The Twins (43-41) lost to the visiting LA Angels, 2-1.
