Short and sweet: Just two MOTs in action last night.
Alex Bregman entered the game between the Houston Astros (42-16) and host KC Royals as a defensive replacement. He singled in his only at bat and scored a run as his team stretched their winning streak to 11 with a 7-2 victory.
Kevin Pillar was 1-for-4 with his 14th double, scoring a run and driving in another, but the Toronto Blue Jays (28-30) lost to the host Oakland Athletics, 5-3. The New York Times published this story — “Toronto’s Kevin Pillar Is Using an Ugly Word as a Catalyst for Change” — on the recent situation in which the ballplayer used a homophobic slur and was hit with a two-game suspension, and how he’s seeking to redeem himself.
Scott Feldman did not appear for the Cincinnati Reds (26-30) in their 4-2 win over the visiting St. Louis Cardinals.
No other MOT teams were in action.
Ian Kinsler (Detroit Tigers) is eligible to come off the disabled list today, while Ryan Braun (Milwaukee Brewers) and Joc Pederson (LA Dodgers) remain on the list.
